Ever wondered
how Lewis and Clark lived, what they ate, the plants and animals they discovered
on their trek across the wilderness? 2005 marks the 200th anniversary of their
journey.
"Life On The
Trail Of Lewis & Clark" was held on Saturday, May 7, 2005,at the historic Cross
Orchards Living History Farm, 3073 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction, CO. The
event was sponsored by Western Colorado Gardening Foundation, a non-profit
organization, along with Cross Orchards, and the Museum of Western Colorado.
Many groups and
organizations participated ..…. Mountain Men; Native Americans; Collbran Job
Corps students; U. S. Forest Service (celebrating their 100th anniversary in
2005); Grand Mesa Historic Scenic Byway; Colorado State University Cooperative
Extension Service, to name a few.
Hand-crafted
items along with artisans demonstrating their crafts, food, hands-on history and
interpretive demonstrations of painting, welding, and blacksmithing, music, face
painting, children’s rock painting, along with a continuous showing of the
National Geographic film, Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West.
