The landscape design concept for the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial is to create a colorful
landscape that accents the memorial structure with flowering ornamental trees
and shrubs. The design utilizes small shade trees that do not obstruct the
view, and creates a quiet, respectful, human-scale, intimate feeling. The
existing evergreen trees shall be relocated within the site. The shrub bed
area is filled with flowering shrubs and perennials for contrasting colors.
Benches are placed along the sidewalk for resting and reflection.
