As part of a five-year community campus beautification project, a tree-planting celebration was held on Arbor Day, April 25, 2003, at the Orchard Mesa Middle School in Grand Junction. The WCGF acted as a sponsor organization for a 2003 Tree Planting Program 50/50 Grant Application to The Colorado Parks and Recreation Association Foundation.  The WCGF made a $250 grant to the School in support of this activity.  The tree planting project was also partially funded by a $500 grant from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association Foundation which is sponsored by Colorado Garden Show, Inc.
