New Foundation is LaunchedGardening foundation seeks new membersJanuary 12, 2003 -- Grand Junction, Colorado Filling a need to raise money for much needed gardening related projects; a new foundation has been formed for western Colorado. The Western Colorado Gardening Foundation (WCGF), a Colorado nonprofit corporation, was formed on December 2, 2002 and organized for charitable and educational purposes. The Foundations’ stated purpose is “to promote funding for the edification of residents of Western Colorado in matters pertaining to horticulture in order to foster successful and environmentally sound gardening practices that protect and beautify neighborhood environments in Western Colorado.” Membership in the WCGF is open to anyone with an interest in supporting its objective to raise funds for gardening related projects. Communities outside Mesa County are encouraged to participate and to develop local chapters, or similarly affiliated groups of WCGF members. A primary objective is to build cooperative, mutually supportive relationships with other gardening organizations and to pursue possible "partnership" opportunities in planning and completing projects. The next meeting of WCGF will be held Saturday, January 25th at 10:00 AM at Meadowlark Garden, 2259 Broadway (at Redlands Parkway), Grand Junction, CO. The educational program for this meeting is of particular interest to gardeners in western Colorado. "Butterfly and Hummingbird Gardening -- How To Attract Them" will be presented by John Moore, Advanced Master Gardener. Anyone interested in becoming acquainted with the new foundation is invited to attend this meeting. The
