WCGF GRANTS $500 FOR HOSPITAL RESPITE GARDEN TREES
The Western Colorado Gardening Foundation has awarded a $500.00 grant to the Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation to partially fund the trees to be placed in the respite gardens of the new Delta County Memorial Hospital. These unique gardens, located in two open air spaces on the new hospital’s second floor, will offer patients, visitors and staff a natural, quiet setting for positive renewal and enhancement of healing. The gardens will be surrounded by the windows of patient rooms and staff offices, and will provide both natural light and lovely views of the trees and accompanying flowers, bushes water features and arbors. In addition to raising funds for gardening projects in Grand Junction and neighboring communities, the WCGF also provides horticultural education, consulting expertise, design assistance, plant recommendations, and labor. When this project was proposed to their membership, it was greeted with enthusiasm and support because of its distinctiveness and the benefits it will provide for the hospital’s patients and staff for years to come.
Generous support for these respite gardens has also been provided by Bookcliff Gardens, The Trevi Collection, Tri-State Pottery, Schall Chemical Supply, Garnet Mesa Elementary School, individual cash donors, and the many volunteer professionals who are designing and assembling the gardens. The respite gardens will be open for public viewing during the new hospital’s grand opening, scheduled for Saturday, June 5th. ### |
